6.1 The mole
A mole tells about particles, a substance that contains the same amount number of units of carbon atoms in 12g of carbon 12
The number representing the mole is the Avogadro constant, which is
6 x 10^23
So one mole is an Avogadro constant, which unit is
g/ml or Mole
For example, Sodium is made of single sodium atoms, it's Ar is 23
so it contains 1 mole of sodium atoms
If iodine is made of iodine molecules, its Mr is 254,
so it conains 6 x 10^23 iodine molecules,
or one mole of iodine molecules
Some Calculations can be found by using the mole
by remembering this triangle
mass
Ar/Mr x no of moles
Mass
the mass can be found by multiplying
the mass of one mole, which is the Ar or Mr,
by the number of moles
mass is also in grams
Ar / Mr
The mass of one mole can be found by dividing the mass(g) by number of moles
The number of moles
the number can be found by diving the mass(g)
by the Ar/Mr
